Bonnie Summerset’s Great Adventure

 Bonnie Summerset’s Great

Adventure

By Anika Matthews

Chapter One

imidly, 13 year old Bonnie Summerset pushed back the

branches and peered into the clearing. Sunshine drenched the ground as it poured through the canopy above. She had been following the trail of clues for days, and she had finally reached her destination. Were the
stories true? Is this really the place people in her village had talked about for centuries? She hoped her own story would have a fairytale ending, but in the back of her mind a sickening thought arose, what if something more sinister waited ahead? Bonnie stepped forward and saw it, it was exactly like she had hoped, with a wonderful orange roof, bright green tangly vines dangling from the glimmering thousands of windows above.                                                                   She took a deep breath and stepped closer to the beautiful house as she got closer she listened to the faintest peep and there it was again “peep peep peep” as she got closer the voice got louder, and soon enough she was in the house.         Listening to the sound, she kept walking closer and closer to the sound, but then she heard what the sound really was.                                                         It was someone calling out for help and it was coming from a winding staircase which went all the way to the top of the house! Bonnie didn’t stop to think once, and ran up the stairs to the voice. When she got up, there was a whole room full of animals! She looked around the room and she couldn't see anyone, where was the voice coming from?                                                                              Finley Bonnie found that the voice was coming from a wardrobe at the back of the room.

Chapter Two

she didn’t know if the floorboards would crack or not. And then without noticing that she banged into the wardrobe, she rubbed her head ‘well that hurt’ she said out loud’ But then placed her hand on the doorknob, the door was locked and there was no key hole (well she thought so at least)  Bonnie looked all over for a hole, but after minutes of searching she finally found a tiny little hole in the wall, shaped as a keyhole! But beside the wall was a crack. “What if there is something behind that wall, I wonder what it could be . . .

Chapter Three

corner of her eye Bonnie saw something glimmering in

the sun and then Bonnie took her eyes off the crack

in the wall and walked toward the object, as she

walked toward a table with the object on top which

turned out to be a key! A key that could fit in the

keyhole Bonnie rushed over nearly tripping over a

rabbit and when she came one step closer to the key

she heard a big crack Bonnie froze. While bonnie was

frozen the floorboards began to crackle and after a

second or so she fell right through the floor Bonnie

tried to grip onto a piece of wooden floor around her,

but but than she made the whole floor brake ( Apart

from the edges and the planks of wood that used to

hold the floor up ) but luckily she was right next to a

thick plank of wood, Bonnie pulled herself up onto the

plank and tried to balance, she looked up in relief that

the table with the key was still at the edge of the

room, bonnie walked across the the plank toward the

key trying to keep her balance.

Chapter Four

s Bonnie walked across the plank she slipped and fell down,

down, down, until she hit the ground with a thump it

was a very long way down and everything went black

Art with Urmi

For Monday Mashup I picked to go with Urmi who was doing art. Urmi told us that we would chose what type of art we were doing and to plan it. I chose to make origami swans swimming in a pond. My art turned out like this . . .

After making that I still had time to make something else. Urmi got out some coloured paper to make more origami with but I din't know what to make so I made random folds in a piece of paper and I turned out making a water dinosaur witch looks like this . . .

Bridle Path walk

Bridle Path Walk

On Thursday our class went up the bridle path to experience what it was like for the Europeans to walk over the bridle path and all the way too Christchurch. But we only had to walk over and get picked up by the busses. My Mum was coming as a parent helper and I mostly walked with her while also walking in the front. We had to stop a few times to wait for everyone else. You could see good views of littleton and the hills around us! When we got off the bussed we had to walk to the start of the path. It was a bit steep at the start to get to the path. When we got up it was really windy and we all had lunch. On the way down it was really easy and some people slipped over witch wasn't very nice I'm lucky I didn't slip but when we got to the bottom, the busses were waiting so we all got on and went bock to school to spend the rest of the day.

I had a lot of fun walking over the bridle path and I'm glad I went.

MakeyMakeys

MakeyMakeys

MakeyMakey is an invention kit that you can use as a keyboard You can clip in alligator clips to Up, Right, Left, Down, Click and Space bar.

We were in groups of two to make a game controller me and my buddy Uanita made a spider web. It had some squiggly rainbow colours
How have you been using MakeyMakey? Clipping alligator clips into play-doh so that it can conduct with the MakeyMakey. Me and Uanita started out drawing the web and then coloured it in with rainbow colours. We had little pieces of play-doh and stuck them onto left, right, up and down then clipped on alligator clips on. To test it out we used pacman and
sometimes it worked and sometimes we had to press it a few times for it to Work.

And this is what we made...

End of Term Reflection 2021

2021 term 3 End of term Reflection❤️

This is 2021 and in term 3 I had lots of fun things to do.

My favourite thing of this term was going to ferrymead.

The most interesting thing was Epro8.

The thing I had fun on was going over the bridle path.

I learnt that in the olden days there were some rules like girls go before boys, children must be seen but not heard and no hands in pockets.

Argument about the Europeans coming to New Zealand

Argument about the Europeans coming to New Zealand

Bad

The Europeans brought the flu and the Polynesians could catch it also the Europeans brought wars over land.

The Europeans brought plants that in New Zealand are weeds and brought animals That are pests in New Zealand.

They brought farm animals that made them chop down forests and plants to make farmland. They killed 90% of the wetlands. The Polynesians were only allowed to talk in English

Good

The Europeans brought food that the Polynesians could eat.

The Europeans taught the Polynesians to read and write.

The Europeans brought equipment that the Polynesians could use to build their houses.

The Europeans brought fruit and vegetable plants with beautiful flowers. They brought farm animals for more food ( I am vegetarian so I don’t eat meat! ) and the animals would make eggs and milk.

Ferrymead trip

Ferrymead trip

In the morning of the day our class was going to ferrymead I woke up in excitement. When I got to school and we got on the bus or in the school vans to ferrymead everyone was really excited! When we got there we walked through an archway. It was like a magical door that goes back in time to when the Europeans came over the bridle path to settle in Christchurch. Here they made their v-huts. V-huts are the first house the Europeans would make when they came over the bridle path. The v-huts were one of the activities we did at ferrymead.

The other activities we did were Immigration, Crafts and Packing the trunk. When we got inside we saw a train station and there everyone got dressed up in costumes from settler times. There was a white dress underneath and a coloured dress on top. The boys wore a long sleeved greyish blue button up top and some pants of the same colour with a blue or green hat.

Everyone looked different and it was really funny!

I had a lot of fun and we learnt lots of interesting things! I am really glad I went.
