My Tote Bag

I have always wanted to learn how to sew and the lockdown was a good time to learn. Mum and I went to the garage and got a bag of fabric. I picked a nice piece of  fabric and first we zigzagged it to stop it from fraying then we folded it and started sewing it together to make the shape of the bag.

Now we were going to start the handle of the bag. We folded it one way, then we folded it the other. Now all it needed was to be flat so we went to Mum and Dad’s room and we used Mum’s hair straightener to flatten it. Now we can sew the handle on.

And here is my finished tote bag.

  2. What a gorgeous tote bag Anika. I love the fabric you have chosen and it reminds me of a paisley skirt I had once. I like how you used mum's hair straighteners to flatten the fabric for the handle- genius. Did you find sewing the bag challenging?

  3. Wow Anika!!! Your tote bag is very impressive! I'm a little bit jealous - I wish I knew how to sew like that :) You must have really thought about what you needed to do to make the bag. Thanks for sharing the pictures too! You look chuffed :)

  6. Kia ora Anika. I am so impressed with the tote bag you created. What a great skill to learn at home with Mum. Being able to sew is such a valuable skill to have, just imagine all of the things you will be able to create if you practise on that sewing machine. It made me smile when I read that you had used to the hair straighteners to flatten the fabric. I am keen to see your next project.
